Mats Julius Stensrud
Assistant Professor of Statistics at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne
Mats J. Stensrud, MD, PhD, is a tenure-track assistant professor of statistics at EPFL in Switzerland. Before joining EPFL in 2020, Stensrud was a Fulbright scholar and Kolokotrones fellow at Harvard School of Public Health. Stensrud’s current research focuses on developing new theory and methods for causal inference, usually in settings with exposures and outcomes that depend on time. A key aim is that these methods rely on assumptions that are transparent and scientifically falsifiable. Stensrud also has substantive interest in applying new methods to data. Given his background as physician, many of his empirical research projects concern problems in medicine and epidemiology.
